There's something about fall that makes me want to disappear into a magical book.
Give me crisp mornings, changing leaves, a warm cup of tea, maybe a candle burning on the table. And of course, a story filled with witches, enchanted cottages, magical shops, found family and a little romance, and I'm happy.
If you feel the same way, 2026 has some wonderful cozy fantasy and romantasy releases coming your way.
I've put together 25 books that lean toward the cozy, whimsical, witchy autumnal side of fantasy. Some are true cozy fantasy, while others are more romantasy with a deliciously atmospheric fall feel. There are magical inns, tea witches, dragons, fae, bakeries, gothic romance and of course, the queen herself (cough, Sarah J. Maas) has a release that's going to take over the romantasy world this October.

🍁August: Easing Into Autumn

If you want to start your fall reading with something whimsical instead of spooky, Sea of Charms is a great place to begin.
This is the third installment in the Spellshop book series, a cozy romantasy series that you can read in whichever order you like. This cozy fantasy romance features magical creatures, fake romance trope, a sea serpent, and an End-of-Harvest Festival. It has that wonderful feeling of stepping into a world where magical creatures are simply a part of every day life.

If you like your fall reading a little more dramatic and romantic put this one on your list.

T. Kingfisher is wonderful at combining strange, funny, slightly dark fantasy witth characters you genuinly want to spend time with.
Daggerbound brings thaat same quirky energy, with fantasy adventure and romance wrapped into a story that feels more playful than grim.
This is the final installment of this duology, so if you haven't read book one yet, you have time to dig in before this one is released.
Perfect for: readers who like their fantasy weird, charming, and maybe a little dark.

September is when I officially give myself perfmission to start leaning hard into autumn.
The weather may still be warm in here in Pennsylvania, but I'm ready for sweaters, apples, cinnamon, and books about witches.

It's not a proper list if I don't throw in at least one monster romance. A banshee, a warlock, magic, romance, and a cozy supernatural setting make this another fun addition to your autumn TBR.

Of course thiss one had to make the list. I've only been waiting for this book FOR YEARS.
It may not technically qualify as a cozy fantasy, but if you love romantasy there is no way to make a Fall 2026 reading list with mentioning the queen herself, Sarah J. Maas.
